Radiology for Dental Assistants

**Activities:

Review equipment used in radiology

bulletReview & demonstrate basic exposure techniques utilizing a variety of film holders for paralleling, bisecting techniques and bitewing exposures,
bulletReview safety procedures for limiting excessive radiation exposure to the patient and operator,
bulletIdentify exposure and processing errors and demonstrate ways to correct those errors,
bulletRole-play explaining safety and the need for radiographs

Classroom activities:

Review difficult concepts/Q & A session

bullet

Complete written examination (70% is needed to pass)

bullet

Review grade & questions missed

What the student should bring to the session:  

bullet A full mouth series of radiographs taken in the office with the student's assistance (if applicable)

 

**The hands on sessions are limited to only a certain # of students to allow for individualized instruction based on the student's needs
