Coronal Polishing by Dental Assistants


ABOUT THIS COURSE

Is the course approved? Yes, the course is approved by the Tennessee Board of Dentistry.  You will receive 14 hours of continuing education credit for taking the course.

Who is eligible? An applicant must be a registered dental  assistant in the State of Tennessee prior to applying for the course. 

How is the course organized? The course has a didactic portion and a clinical portion.  Much of the didactic material will be provided online.  After you register and pay for the course, you will be able to "sign in" and begin taking the online portion.  

What type of computer equipment will I need? Any computer with an internet connection will be adequate for this course, but a high speed internet connection for your computer is highly desirable. In addition you will need to have the computer program Adobe Reader installed if you don't have it already.  It is free.  Just go to http://adobe.com

Can I see the course before I start?  Sure.  Go to "see a sample" above.  You can see how the course is organized and how easy it is to use.

Where is the clinical portion held?  The clinical portion is held at various locations in the state. 

How is the clinical portion of the course organized?  Please go to  the agenda to see how the course is organized as well as to see the competency evaluation forms used.

What happens if I am late for the course?  If you are more than 20 minutes late, we will have to reschedule you for a later date.  Be sure to check the starting times for your class.  Remember, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Tri Cities are in the Eastern Time Zone!

Who are the instructors?  The principle clinical instructor is Dr. William Johnson.    Dr. Johnson will be assisted by dental hygienists qualified to teach coronal polishing.

How much does it cost?  $250   

What if I cannot pay immediately? Your spot in the course is not reserved until you pay, so it is to your advantage to pay immediately.  If special circumstances exist, contact us so arrangements can be made.

If we do not hear from you and we do not receive payment within 14 days, we will assume you changed your mind and your registration information will be deleted.

Remember, your spot in the class will not be reserved until payment is received.

What is your refund policy?  You will receive a full refund (minus a $25 processing fee) if you cancel at least 30 days before the course.  If you cancel less than 30 days before the course, you will receive a 50% refund.

Do I have to take a test afterwards?  As of March 19, 2012,   the Tennessee Board of Dentistry will no longer have a clinical exam in Nashville.  Instead  the exam will be given at the end of our course.

Do I need to bring a patient? We will be performing clinical procedures on each other and will use each other for the clinical exam.  If you do not have at least 20 permanent teeth or if your oral health is not good (gross decay, multiple crowns or missing teeth, excessive calculus, etc), you will need to bring a patient who meets these criteria.  Please have a dentist verify your oral health status before attending the clinical class.

Do I have to contact the Board of Dentistry afterwards?  Yes, but we will help you and give you the necessary forms.

Do I need to bring anything to the course? Yes.  The things you need to bring are as follows:
